Assistant Coach Position

Centennial Aquatic Club is seeking an experienced Assistant Coach to work with our swimmers and coaches. 

The assistant swim coach will be working directly with the head coach of the team during practices, meets, and workouts. This person must have a passion for working with children and must possess exceptional leadership qualities. 1 year experience in an aquatics setting or teaching setting is preferred. Must possess a strong understanding of all four swim strokes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in coaching, training, and developing our swim team members
  • Encouraging swimmers throughout the season by helping to set and attain positive and achievable goals
  • Ensure the safety of swimmers at the practice by following proper precautions and regulations
  • Assists the Head Coach in developing an overall training program to prepare athletes to compete, and establishes a competitive training schedule for team members.
  • Monitors individual athletes' progressions on skills and techniques.
  • Enforce team rules and policies as well as pool rules and regulations.
  • Give swimmers knowledge to understand and master strokes and provide corrective feedback that will enhance swimmers’ techniques.
  • Build meaningful relationships with participants
  • Work on USA swimming certification and attend classes 
  • Communicate effectively weekly with the Head Coach about daily practice procedures, emergencies, and information regarding swimmers and swim team well being.
  • Attends up to two Suburban Aquatic League Meetings- one at beginning of season and one at end (scratch meeting)
  • Writing & Leading Practices
  • On deck before swimmers begin practice, to greet swimmers and parents
  • Writing line up for and Lead meets;  making needed changes at meets as required
  • Swimmer of the meet write up completed at the end of the meet to Head Coach
  • Involved with other activities & events determined by head coach
  • Conduct self in a professional, friendly, helpful, courteous and diplomatic manner.

Assistant Swim Coach Qualifications:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Have knowledge of and experience in competitive swimming
  • Have 1+ years of experience working with children (professional, volunteer, or familial)
  • Can be a positive role model for our swimmers
  • Are able to perform First Aid/CPR/AED/Emergency Oxygen 
  • Must possess a strong understanding of all four swim strokes.
  • Ability to work with a variety of ages and levels of swimmers

Experience in the following areas are a plus:

  • Computer skills
  • Meet Manager software
  • Team Unify
  • Communication

Job Type: Part-time/seasonal

Successfully passing a criminal background check is required.
